What Does ‘NMS’ Mean?

Summary:  The analysis of three rules governing knowledge assessment in secondary schools in which ‘NMS’ appears shows that the meaning of the expression ‘ni dosegel minimalnega standarda’ (‘did not achieve the minimal standard’), always written with the same acronym ‘NMS’, changes depending on the context in which it appears or the rules relating to it. Thus, we now have two different meanings of the same acronym ‘NMS’: in secondary vocational school it means that the pupil did not achieve the minimal standard of knowledge, while in gimnazija it means that the pupil did not ful.l one of the prescribed conditions for progression.
