The use of the LTD (learning through discussion) method at Didactics of Art History tutorials Marjana Dolšina Delač
Summary: The Learning Through Discussion (LTD) method is a didactic activity which combines in-depth reading of study material with notes and further guided discussion in small groups. LTD process plan consists of eight consecutive steps: (1) checking in, (2) vocabulary, (3) general statement, (4) subtopics, (5) application to other authors, subjects, (6) application to self, (7) evaluation of author’s presentation and ideas, (8) evaluation of group and individual performance. Via evaluation survey we tried to identify students’ opinions on different aspects of the LTD method. Future art history teachers believe that the method is rather time-consuming but effective, with some adjustments also suitable for art history lessons in high school.
