Some Professional Dilemmas Regarding the Legislative Solution of the Institution of the Registered Childcarer Dr. Andreja Hočevar
Summary: This article discusses the institution of the registered childcarer, which was introduced by the Act Amending the Preschool Institutions Act in 2008. A comparative analysis of the systems in the area of family day care in three countries with comparable institutional preschool education (Denmark, Finland and Sweden) shows that the structure of institutional preschool education known in those countries — at least in terms of its contents — relates better to the Slovene educational-childcare family than to the newly introduced registered childcarer. The latter does not render her service in accordance with a publicly verified programme and does not, therefore, provide children with intentional preschool education in line with a publicly verified programme.
