Nika Ferbežar and Tina Štemberger

Summary:  With the development of precise methodological laws, systematic literature review has been established as distinct type of research characterized by a high degree of reliability. In turn, in the context of pedagogical research in Slovenia, a systematic literature review is relatively unknown and rarely applied. Therefore, the paper first presents the historical background of systematic literature review, defines it as a special type of research, and compares it with traditional literature review. This is followed by an analysis of its advantages and disadvantages and a description of the process of conducting this type of research. Finally, its application in practice is critically evaluated and positioned in the context of educational research.
