Second foreign language as a compulsory subject in the primary school

Summary:  The article presents the initial points of the implementation of the second foreign language as a compulsory subject in the primary schools, coming from the analysis of the present situation of the foreign language learning in primary schools in Slovenia, wider social circumstances and the newer experts fi ndings on language learning and teaching. The article introduces the ongoing project and the latest results of the evaluation made in the fi rst 47 participating schools and some issues for further discussion, considering the implementation of the second foreign language.
