Reform as a path to a more equitable education system
Zdenko Kodelja

Summary:  New reform of the education system is needed if the existing system is not what it should be and if we know, or at least have reason to believe, that it can be improved through reform. But to improve it, we need to know what constitutes a good education system. In recent years, there has been a belief that the best education systems are those that are both good and just. Therefore, the expected reform of the Slovenian education system should also include measures to try to ensure that the reformed system is as just as possible. However, the question is whether justice will be an important theme of the expected reform at all. For, if the school reform - as far as justice is concerned - follows the official strategic documents that predict the direction of the development of Slovenia in the coming decades, then the reform is unlikely to be the path to a more just Slovenian education system. The reason: these documents are almost silent on the justice of the education system.
