Journal of Contemporary Educational Studies, Conservative Lady and Socially Reflected Proletarian - Journal in 2010 and 2011
Mojca K. Šebart

Summary:  The text analyzes two volumes of the journal Sodobna pedagogika, each consisting five issues, all of which are also thematic. In all issues of the journal in 2010 and 2011, texts were published simultaneously in Slovenian and in a foreign language for the first time in history. In 2011, the journal opened up intensively to foreign authors as well. The results of the analysis bring out the most important messages of the journal in terms of content, but also point to its social relevance. They shed light on the chronic unresponsiveness of school policy towards initiatives, which the journal‘s argumentation also points to. Modern pedagogy in this period preserves traditional content excellence and enables conceptual and terminological development, especially of pedagogy as a discipline, in Slovenia and internationally. During this period, the content of the journal also successfully resists the traps of the ruling ideology promoted by the expectations of international institutions: both the search for solutions that serve the methodology of quantitative evaluation of scientific works and the direct coupling of education and training with the labour market, from preschool institution onwards.
