Counselling in kindergartens and schools (Editorial) Dr. Metod Resman
Summary: School counselling in our country, in the present conceptual and operative form, has done a certain way and performed its professional development; thus it is time to question ourselves which direction to choose in order to take new steps and in this way to actualize school counsellors´ work in the future. Not only foreign but also our empirical studies (some of them are shown in this thematic volume) show that certain questions regarding educative – educational work in schools and counselling services, going on for decades, will remain on the map also in the future. These questions refer to the assistance to students with special needs in learning and in social integration, school and vocational counselling, questions and respecting school rules (discipline), fight against the use of substances harmful to health and questions of mutual relationships (individualism, egoism, aggression). Regarding this conceptualisation, we have to be observant of preserving the preventive, developmental, systematic and systemic direction of the counselling services´ program, in order to help everybody, not only risky students. The efficiency of the program will increase if counsellors manage to connect their efforts with the efforts of teachers and parents into a uniform educative concept. In the article, it is particularly emphasized why it would be worth paying counselling attention to the development of students’ carrier and to the cooperation with parents.
