Educational Policy of the European Union in the Field of Adult Education

Summary:  Increasing demands, constant technological development and the need for rapid adaptation to change require continuous investment in acquiring new knowledge and skills. Education is one of the essential elements of society for ensuring the competitiveness of organizations and individuals. With high quality level of education and training programs for adults in the context of education policy, the European Union wants to create a knowledge-based society in the concept of lifelong learning. This paper presents the educational policy of the European Union and Slovenia in the field of adult education. A review of official documents accepted in the field of education and training shows that education is inherently involved in all levels of human action. However, the ability to respond quickly for changing circumstances is possible only with the application of new skills in everyday life.
